Fact of the Week

Two tigers, Napoleon and Josephine, on March 18, 1967, escaped from Wellington Zoo and took a leisurely stroll through Newtown. The tiger hunt involved police, circus performers, and a makeshift sniper’s tower. Sadly, the tigers were ultimately both killed, with incident remaining a legendary tale of chaos in Wellington’s history.
